PawsWay Pet Loss Support Group

If you have experienced the loss of your animal or are anticipating the loss of your animal, know that you are not alone in the grief that you are feeling. The purpose of this group is to create a safe and supportive environment where everyone’s grief matters. Participants will have an opportunity to express their loss and share memories of their companions. The group meets the first Saturday of each month.

PawsWay K-9 Manners Level One!

March 1st 2014- Apr 2, 2014

This 6-week course is designed to help clients teach their dog to be a pleasant and responsive family and household companion. With its flexible curriculum both basic skills and specific problem behaviours will be clearly addressed. All skills will be taught using positive reinforcement training, with an emphasis on people friendly and dog friendly techniques.

•Based on a business and operational model developed by Humane Alliance: low cost, high-volume, and self-sustaining.
• Primarily focused on cats and kittens due to the enormous problem of homeless, stray, abandoned and feral cats in the city of Toronto. Dogs and puppies are also accepted at the clinic.
• The Toronto Humane Society Spay/Neuter and Vaccine Services are open to citizens needing veterinary services for their pets. We do not accept breeders at these clinics, thank you for your understanding.

Discovery Kids March Break Camp Ages 6 to 11

At our Discovery Kids March Break Camp, children learn about proper pet care, pet safety, how to stay safe around animals, owner responsibility and more.
The children learn and have fun through periods of hands-on socialization with small animals, games, activities, crafts, special guest speakers and contests.

Red Barn March Break Junior Dog Trainer Camp for Kids

March 12 and Thursday, March 13, 2014

Cost: $45 + HST per day. 2 day program $80 + HST.

If your kids are crazy about dogs, sign up for a super time at the Red Barn March Break Junior Dog Trainer Camp for Kids!  Its a great opportunity for some education abour rescue dogs too. That’s because students can participate in the program with their family pet, or they can choose to work  with a shelter dog that has been previously chosen for this program. The maximum number of students  per group is 6, and kids from age 7 to 15 can take part in one of two age group categories, 7 – 10 and 11 – 15.

The camp intructors will include professionals in the dog professions, including a selection from Veterinarian, Veterinary Technician, Animal Control Officer, SPCA, OPP Canine Unit Trainer, Groomer, Animal Massage Therapist, Animal Chiropractor, Dog Sport Trainers, and possibly breeders with puppies.

This is open to ALL dogs, even puppies and seniors! No prior experience or training necessary for either you or your dog. Instructor Karen Apfel of  Dogsmart Training uses fun games based on detection training for police and detection dogs. This type of work helps shy or nervous dogs build confidence. It can help exuberant dogs build self-control too.**Please note – the workshop capacity is limited to 16 DOGS only, but we can have an unlimited number of auditors (auditors are people without dogs that observe the sessions).
