Valentine’s Day is only a couple of weeks away so the pressure to find love and the perfect date is on for many.

Personally, a good glass of wine, great food, a good RomCom and my dog in my lap sounds like the ideal night.
Dogs make best companions and give the best unconditional love and cuddles.

Finding Love At The Dog Park

Dogs can also be a great way to meet a human companion.

Dogs are naturally social, active creatures who often enjoy playing in groups. They need daily walks. Therefore, owning a dog can help you interact with more people. You already have one great thing in common and lots of conversation starters. Many studies have found that men and women that own dogs tend to be more social, active and thoughtful.

Going to Busy dog parks, puppy classes, or other activities with your dog might just provide more opportunities for meeting new people you like, than going to a loud crowded club or restaurant.

PetSmart Charities and Match.com’s  survey “The Truth about Pets and Dating” found that:
  • 46 percent of singles would bring their pet to a walking trail on a first date.
  • 35 percent of single women have been more attracted to someone because of their pet.
  • 27 percent of women find photos of pets in an online dating profile a turn-on

So if you’re looking for love this Valentines Day why not try doing something with your dog?

Don’t have a dog yet? If you are considering getting a dog,  consider adopting. Not only does that save the lives of dogs in need but adopting over buying can score you more brownie points with the opposite sex. 59 percent of singles surveyed agreed that finding out your date had adopted rather than bought their pet would make them seem more attractive.

Take our Breed Quiz to see what dog breed best matches you and learn more about your favourite types of dogs in our Breed Library.

Here are our subjective choices of affectionate dog breeds we know if you need a little extra loving. Of course, every dog is different and so no guarantees. Plus it was ridiculously hard to choose only 10 as we know so many loving dogs. Always do your research, meet the breed and the dog and find the dog that’s meant for you.

10 Most Affectionate Dog Breeds

#1 Pugs

Of course, I am biased but Kilo the Pug is a complete love Pug. Pugs are lap dogs and are often super affectionate. Kilo loves sitting with me and gives me lots of Pug Hugs and Kisses. I call him my velcro dog but he is perfect for watching RomCom movies with (except the snoring LOL). My hubby prefers sports but Kilo does not touch the remote.

Pets are a great way to connect to other people – romantically or not. 🙂 I love the photo of the black lab. It reminds me of the dog I had growing up. She was one of my all time best friends. I’m so thankful for all she taught me.
