Audition Profile

Dogs Name: Sophia
Home Town: London, ON
Dogs Breed: Black Lab
Description of Talent:

At only 6 months of age, Sophia, a neglected young pup found herself in a high kill shelter in Ohio. Pulled out in time by a rescue organization, she waited for a full year for a home on a rescue farm for animals before getting shipped up to the London Humane Society and finding her furever home.

She is now an incredibly talented working dog, travelling Ontario with the Ultamutts Dog Trick Show. She can perform over 100 tricks including Reading Cue Cards, Counting, Holding/Retrieving Hot Dogs, Packing up her Suitcase, Saying Her Prayers, Pickpocketing People, Dancing the Can Can, and blaming Farts on people. As a fundraising project, Sophia has learned to collect donations, place them in a basket and carry the basket for coins. She personally collected $126 for the very rescue she was adopted from. Her dog trick show has landed her on numerous TV shows, including Breakfast Television and the Rick Mercer Report. She also works as a therapy dog weekly visiting children at a women’s shelter to perform her tricks, playing with the kids and cuddling.

Sophia is the most wonderful lassie-type dog that anyone would love to have as part of their family! Trustworthy with puppies, children and errant hot dogs, she the centre piece of a fabulous trick show that I’ve been lucky enough to catch several times. Best of all her celebrity hasn’t gone to her head, she’s still the same a humble shelter rescue with a huge bag of tricks.

Sophia is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She is known around London for her charming, gentle nature, as she captivates audience members with her spell bounding bag of tricks.

Sophia Rocks!!!. She is not only smart, but sweet and kind as well and with the patience of a wise old soul. i have seen Sophia perform many times and she just treats it like she was meant to do this, no one would ever know her history and the great work that her owner does with rescue organizations.

Sophia is the dog to choose for the show…What you can’t see in the video is that not only is she incredibly smart and has mastered more that many dogs in a lifetime, she has the absolute sweetest personality in the world. She has a sense about her, how to approach other dogs and reads their personalities and adjusts the approach to suit the needs of the other dogs. My crazy beagle mix Abby took an immediate love to Sophia when she was a puppy and even though they don’t see each other very often now, Abby loves her gentle soul….so do I. (And her owner is an amazing woman too)

Sophia is a gentle soul and one look in her eyes will melt your heart. My own dog has issues with big dogs and the only big dog she will go near and that calms her is Sophia. There is something about this dog that draws you to her. The world would have missed out on a spectacular dog had she not been saved.

One look in Sophia’s eyes and you can tell she’s the gentlest soul who just wants to please. My own dog has issues with big dogs and Sophia is the only big dog she’s met that puts her at ease and allows her to feel comfortable. Watching Sophia interact with others melts my heart and solidifies that had she been put down the world would have lost out on an amazing girl 🙂
