Hope Unleashed is a heartwarming 6 x 12-minute observational docuseries that follows a remarkable five-month journey inside an Ontario high school. Sixteen students are paired with future service and therapy dogs as part of their Grade Nine/Ten English and Science curriculum. Commissioned by Fibe TV1 and produced by Brain Power Studio in association with Hop To It Productions, Hope Unleashed offers a raw, fly-on-the-wall look at transformation on both ends of the leash.

The series centres on the innovative COPE Canines in the Classroom program, developed by educator and COPE Service Dogs founder Jane Boake. Over the course of a semester, students become teachers and caregivers, learning how to train their canine partners while bonding. They explore and apply core concepts such as trust, anticipation, consistency, leadership, and patience.
“Our method shapes a dog’s behavior without force, using bonding, timing, and consistency. We advance skills bit by bit—first luring with treats, then matching with a verbal cue, then targeting without treats—always setting the dog up for success through building confidence and positive associations.” Jane Boake

Filmed entirely cinéma vérité, Hope Unleashed captures real breakthroughs, setbacks, and deepening bonds as students work toward key training milestones. It reveals which human–dog partnerships truly connect, and how hands-on active learning with dogs can strengthen both academic engagement and social development. Hope Unleashed shows a timely experiential approach to youth engagement and anxiety in schools – a fascinating alternative to traditional classes.hands-on active learning with dogs

Producer/Director Susan Nation, of President Hop To It Productions, and Producer/Director of Talent Hounds said:
“Our mission has always been to create content that entertains, uplifts, and inspires. Hope Unleashed is a project I’m incredibly proud of. I’ve seen how caring for animals and a program like this can be extremely positive for many students, especially those with ADHD or anxiety, like me. I’m so grateful to teacher Jane Boake and the wonderful group of teens who opened their classroom to me and demonstrated such growth over the five months together. I’m also grateful to our crew, our partners at Brain Power Studio, COPE Service Dogs, the school community, and to the team at TV1 for championing thoughtful, community-driven Canadian storytelling, innovation, and programs.”
