Katie is a black Shih Tzu with white on her face. Approximately 10 lbs. Wearing red collar. Shy & skittish. Does not bark or wine. She does know her name. She is a scared little girl who needs all of us to step up and come out. It is a large area with thick underbrush in some areas and we need as many people as we can get to cover the entire field. Bring your friends and family. Ask everyone and anyone. The more area we can cover the better. There have been various sightings since she bolted from her new foster home on June 12, so we know she is out there! These types of dogs do not usually go very far unless they are forced to and if they do, they usually will not roam out of an area they have become familiar with.
If you spot Katie DO NOT try to catch her, she will run.
• If Katie isn’t moving, get as low to the ground as possible. Sitting would be ideal. Stay quiet and still, not looking her in the eyes. Softly calling her name or saying “good girl” in a soothing, calming voice may help.
• Katie is VERY food motivated. Offer her food if you have anything available. Move VERY slowly and try to get her to come to you for the food. Try and throw a treat near her. Once she shows interests you can start to throw treats closer and closer to lure her towards you. Patience is essential. Lost dogs are scared, confused and very cautious. Katie must be made to feel secure and safe.
• Sit quietly as long as Katie isn’t moving. If she is moving, move very slowly and quietly to follow her. Try to keep Nasim advised of where you are so help can find you. 416-460-5660.
