Barkfest Dog Festival

With great pet-related vendor booths, dog rescue organizations, dog events and fabulous food, BARKFEST is the place for dogs and their people to play, eat and shop to their heart’s content! We are also thrilled to have the Barrie Police K-9 Unit come and demonstrate their tactical skills. Radio, television and print media have been invited to help promote our wonderful event.

BARKFEST’s annual dog festival brings dogs and their families together from all over Ontario to the City of Barrie’s “Sunnidale Park”. Located off Sunnidale Road, this park boasts over 48 acres of parkland which includes forests, trails, streams and a 7 acre off-leash dog park.

In honour of St. Francis of Assisi’s “Blessing of the Animals”, we are having a special tent for people to come with their pets to get blessed. Animal Blessings are very popular and people are expected from all over. “I’VE BEEN BLESSED AT BARKFEST” bandanas will be available for dogs, with a portion of all sales going to local OSPCAs.

Other key events include “THE BEST DOG BISCUIT EVER” contest! Colleges have been invited from all over Ontario to bake their best treats for a trophy! Our judges will have to taste test each dog treat entered to see which they like the best. Did we mention that some of our judges will be people?

Dogs can enter “The “BEST DOG BARK” contest and win howling great prizes! Other dog contests, dog sporting events and K-9 demonstrations will be held throughout the day!

Its all about the dogs! Fundraisng will be happening all day to help support various organizations. This year monies raised will be donated to: Barrie OSPCA; Muskoka Animal Centre; Dog Guides Canada; and, Helping Homeless Pets/Tiny Paws Dog Rescue.

Admission is free. All dogs must be on a leash and under control at all times.
