Dogs Dressed Up?

Dogs Dressed Up? Is that OK?

I think so. We took some fun photos at the costume contest at a rescue event on Sunday HERE. Kilo really loves posing for the camera as he gets my full attention and also a few treats for sitting and showing off. He has no problem with collars or harnesses, but he is not at all keen on jackets or costumes or anything on his head or feet (FYI We do not wear collars out and about as they could hurt his trachea). He didn’t love the devil head band below- it only stayed on for a second.

My husband finds all costumes on dogs a bit silly, but I find them cute as long as the dog does not mind and is comfortable. With Halloween coming, I tried a pumpkin outfit on Kilo as he loves pumpkin and “orange is the new black“- epic fail. He slumped looking miserable. However he had no trouble posing next to a pumpkin in his bow tie.  He jumped around for treats so the bow tie went a bit askew.

TH Kilo + pumpkin

Then he was a bit fiendish last night, so I thought this devil harness outfit might be a good fit in every way LOL. He was fine with the harness,  and was very happy with the photo session and treats, but preferred the horns down. If we end up going to a pug-o-ween party, I think that works:

As long as it’s not over the top, or trying to make a pet look human, then a bit of dressing up is OK

That is so cute. Bentley does not mind dressing up at all. We may just wear out JibJab make-believe costume. ☺

That is the best when he has his tongue stuck out! Bailie and I love to wear silly hats and stuff for photos, we think it is fun. Katie isn’t real keen on it at all, but she doesn’t even like photos much. We don’t do anything on actual Halloween. Mom hands out candy for a while and that is it.

Kilo is a greedy little devil LOL- so cute licking his little lips. You and Bailie always look wonderful. Kilo won’t do anything on Halloween either- too stressful, plus he might steal chocolate (again). Have a great week!! X S & K

Thanks Sugar- I’m sure you will look beautiful with your golden smile whatever you wear. Thanks and you too- be safe. Halloween is actually a dangerous time for Kilo as he will eat anything including chocolate if he can find it. Plus stressful as he gets very excited by the doorbell and hates strangers. I think we will hide upstairs this year. Have a great week X S & K

We agree, dressing up your dog is fine if the dog doesn’t mind. Well, I hate it so we don’t dress up at our house. That devil hoodie is adorable! Love Dolly

Mr. N adores most clothes actually. He does not like boots and some hats but other than that. I think he knows that people will coo over him even more lol.

I agree about dressing dogs up, some like it, some don’t. I know Carma Poodale also did a terrific post about the Do’s and Don’ts that I learned a lot from. There are a lot of different types of clothes as you say, and dressing them up is a real art.

We think Kilo looks great, especially in the little Devil harness!

Harley’s actually dressing up for a television show on Saturday, but we’re in big trouble because his costume doesn’t fit – YIKES! I’ve got my thinking cap on now…

How fun- post pics when you have the costume the way you like it. Harley will look great in anything!! Such a cutie. We have been having a lot of fun playing around. Have a great week X Susie & Kilo

Oh those are too cute! Atka allows us to dress him up, but he’s not really too thrilled about it. Dressing Mauja up stresses her out so we let her just be herself 🙂

Not worth it if they don’t get something out of it. Kilo is so greedy, he finds it well worth the effort LOL He actually went and looked at his costumes today to encourage me, and even readily agreed to be a pumpkin – too funny. Such a comfy snuggly outfit- more like an orange bathrobe. X Susie & Kilo

OMD! So cute! Love the devil costume! I agree with you – costumes on pets are fine as long as the dog is okay with it. Some dogs LOVE the attention they get while in a costume. Not Rita…. Sometimes I’ll put a little something on her just for a quick photo shoot – and she’s willing to do it for the treats – but that’s it!

That’s like us- great fun for treats and photos, he loves the attention, but then rather dismayed freeze and accusing glances with jackets and costumes. I could not actually expect Kilo to go out in public wearing anything except a harness. Have a great week Rita and Jackie X Susie and Kilo
