Happy Birthday Harley The Puppy Mill Survivor

Stop Puppy Mills -Tribute To Harley and other Survivors

Today we are very inspired by a little rescue dog with a big heart who survived against all odds. Let’s all put our paws together and celebrate that our Hero Harley will be turning 15 on March 18 which is a miracle of love.

We first heard about Harley from his Facebook page and were touched by his story. We interviewed his family for our Rescues Rock documentary and a post about the horrors of puppy mills.

Harley spent 10 years living in a small cage in a puppy mill before he was rescued. Harley’s grizzled appearance is a testament to the neglect he faced including a diseased heart, a mouth filled with rot, a fused spine, a broken tail, gnarled toes, and legs that were deformed. His missing eye is the result of his cage being power-washed with him in it which sadly is an all too common practice in puppy mills.

His journey of physical and emotional healing inspired a campaign called “Harley to the Rescue” which has raised over $600,000. Additionally, Harley has personally participated in the freeing of more than 600 dogs from puppy mills across the Midwest. We are always pleased to bring awareness to his cause.

The beautiful video below was made as a tribute to Harley.

You can help Harley celebrate his 5-year “Gotcha Day” since being rescued from a puppy mill and 15th Birthday on March 18th by sending him a birthday card with a $1 donation that will go towards “Harley to the Rescue” fund via National Mill Dog Rescue.

Please send to:

If you prefer to send a check, please write it out to: National Mill Dog Rescue

We are avid supporters of National Mill Dog Rescue and their cause of stopping these breeding facilities.

Recently we have joined the Ruby’s Love Letter Legacy Campaign, spreading the message adopt don’t shop. Ruby’s Love Letter Legacy is a National Letter Writing Campaign to STOP PUPPY MILLS in Canada! This campaign has been launched by Ontario author Mary Giuffre and her husband Paul Clark, who saved a puppy named Ruby (R.I.P.) from a Canadian Puppy Mill.
