BE pro ACTIVE- Fight Obesity

BE pro ACTIVE- Fight Obesity. According to the US Centers for Disease Control, more than two thirds of adults in the US are overweight and more than one third obese!  According to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, almost 53% of all dogs are overweight or obese.  We all need to watch what we eat and exercise regularly. US government recommends 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity per week for humans. Check with your vet or an expert on the recommended exercise regimen for your dog.

We all know how hard it can be to get active, especially as the weather gets cooler and it gets dark earlier, and if you work at a computer all day (like me). Having a dog as a walking and “workout” partner can really help achieve these exercise goals according to multiple studies. You both win if you get active with your dog.

Here is a great Infographic on Pet Obesity from our friends at SlimDoggy (they said to share to help get the messages out)

ProActive is the way to go…..and a dog certainly stimulates the necessity to be this by being so keen to go somewhere together!! Happy FitDog Friday
