Hot Diggity – Check out The 2013 American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards™  at www.herodogawards.org.

The American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards™ were created in 2010 to celebrate the remarkable bond between dogs and people in a positive way. This annual national competition searches out and recognizes America’s Hero Dogs, who unconditionally avail themselves to us in so many important ways, whether it’s saving lives on the battlefield, lending sight or hearing to a human companion, providing therapeutic support to children suffering from cancer, or just greeting us with a wagging tail at the end of a hard day.

Chuck Shuck, Betty White, Gabe

Eight finalists have been selected in the categories of: Law Enforcement/Arson Dogs, Search and Rescue, Military, Therapy, Service, Guide Dogs, Hearing Dogs, and Emerging Heroes.  We have been voting, have you? Pop by and say hi to all the wonderful Heroes.

Past winners include Military Working Dog, Gabe, who saved soldiers’ lives in Iraq, and Roselle, who led her blind owner, Michael Hingson, down 1,463 stairs in the burning World Trade Center Tower.

The American Humane Association is the country’s first national humane organization and the only one dedicated to protecting both children and animals. Since 1877, American Humane Association has been at the forefront of virtually every major advance in protecting our most vulnerable from cruelty, abuse and neglect.  They are known worldwide for their famous trademarked “No Animals Were Harmed®” end-credit on film and television projects.  American Humane Association reaches millions in its efforts to protect animals.  Founded in 1877, American Humane Association created the Hero Dog Awards to recognize the four-footed heroes in our midst who save lives, provide comfort, and help those needing assistance.  Last year 3 million votes were cast for the hundreds of nominated dogs. News coverage reached over a billion people with support coming from legendary and award-winning celebrities such as Betty White, Kristin Chenoweth and Peter Fonda.  This year’s show will be televised on Hallmark Channel.

Super Smiley, the Super Hero Dog from Pet Life Radio (the World’s largest Pet Radio Network) is the  Spokes-Dog for The 2013 American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards!

Super Smiley, a two-time shelter dog, is Super Smilin’ to be  this year’s Official Spokes-Dog for the Hero Dog Awards.  In addition to being a Therapy Dog with Pet Partners and a HOPE Animal Assisted Crisis Response Dog, Super Smiley is on a mission to help all the shelter pets get adopted!

A true game changer, he’s inspired The Super Smiley™ Flash Mob 4 Pet Adoption National Tour. It’s the Happy Campaign and his answer to the sad TV commercials for pet adoption. The Super Smiley Flash Mob has inspired Award Winning “Dogumentaries”  (watch clip) that have been winning Film Festivals sharing his message across the country.  Over 50 Flash Mobs have energized pet adoption including flashing with the New York City’s Mayor’s Alliance for Pets; dancing on stage with the cast opening the musicalHairspray; and shimmying with the Southern CA Belly Dancers.  He’s inspired Super Smiley’s Operation Kindness, a program with inner city kids that shares the values dogs teach and crescendos with The Super Smiley Flash Mob 4 Kindness.  Super Smiley also “co-hosts” his own Award Winning animal advocacy/adventure radio show, A Super Smiley Adventure, on the Pet Life Radio network.

According to Super Smiley, “The Hero Dogs save lives and change lives!  Look down at the dog looking up at you now; and hug your personal Hero Dog.  Then remember that at shelters right now, your Hero Dog may be waiting.”

Dr. Robin Ganzert, AHA President and CEO, shares she is “happy to say that because of the Hero Dog Awards, the public is paying more attention than ever before to the invaluable work done by millions of dogs every day to keep us healthy, safe and, yes, happy.”

Smiley’s person, Megan Blake, is an actress and The Pet Lifestyle Coach™, from Animal Attractions TV, Pet Life Radio, and The O’Neals on the OWN network.  She and Smiley work together promoting pet adoption and keeping pets in their forever homes with The Pet Lifestyle Coach philosophy and the Super Smiley Campaigns.  They recently both acted in an animal advocacy feature film, Susie’s Hope and are an official Spokes-team for the film’s message of hope and forgiveness and standing against animal abuse.   They live with their “Malibu Rescue Crew,” rescued Arabian and miniature horses, Starfire and Mini HaHa, a beautiful German shepherd, Angel, and Tout Suite The Travel Kitty.  For more on Super Smiley visit www.SmileyTheDog.com and to hear Pet Life Radio’s positively pawsome shows visit www.PetLifeRadio.com and there find Super Smiley’s show, A Super Smiley Adventure, with AHA President, Dr. Robin Ganzert.
